Mateusz Mendel
Principal Scientist, RNA Biology & Drug Discovery
I design complex models for cellular screens and build CRISPR-based functional genomics platforms. My primary focus is bridging the gap between basic biology and practical small molecule drug discovery. Currently based in Basel, this work is grounded in the rigorous foundation in RNA methylation and gene expression I developed during my PhD at the University of Geneva.
Transitioning from academia to industry exposes a critical gap: the skills transfer, but the framing doesn't. Having navigated that transition myself, I actively mentor PhDs and postdocs and regularly deliver career talks to students to help them decipher the industry landscape and position themselves for impactful roles.
I regularly write about industry trends and career advice in my Blog, and you can view my recent presentations in the Public Speaking section. Whether you want to discuss target ID platforms or need tactical strategies for your transition to industry, let's connect.
